Crafty Recipes

Here is where you'll find Recipes for different crafty ideas I use in my blog.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watercolor Paints

* 4-5 Drops of food coloring of your choice
* 1/4 cup of warm water

Mix ingredients in a small cup, I used washed out plastic apple sauce containers.
         * Please make sure yourself and little ones are wearing OLD clothes, these paints will NOT wash out easily.

Paper Mache Paste
* 1 cup of cold water
* 1/4 cup of flour
* 5 cups of water

Before you use this recipe you should know that it makes a TON of Paste. If you are making it for yourself or one/two children I'd recommend cutting the recipe in half.

Mix flour and 1 cup of water in a small bowl until it is smooth.
Heat the 5 cups of water in a large pot over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil.
Add flour and water mixture and reboil mixture.
Stir constantly for 3-5 minutes. - You will feel and see the mixture thickening.
When it's the desired consistency remove from heat.
Remove from heat and allow Paste to cool.
DO NOT USE THIS MIXTURE RIGHT AWAY!!!! It needs roughly 15-30 minutes of cooling time. To speed up the process transfer the paste out of the pot and into separate easily accessible bowls and set them aside.
After the paste has cooled off dip strips of newspaper and use as desired.
Allow finished art work to dry for 24-48 hours. This glue should be rock hard when it's completely dry. If there is ANY give it requires more drying time.
